Could your lipstick and lipgloss contain LEAD??
According to the FDA, there are quite a few that contain lead. These are only ones they tested!! Beware!!! They said that the levels aren’t harmful but if you wear a lot of gloss or lipstick (like I do), it gives you pause. I don’t want to be consuming ANY lead, especially since you have a tendency to bite your lips and in the process, swallow lipstick and gloss that goops up in your...
Beautiful Hawai'i
I’ve been so busy lately with my day job, I haven’t had a chance to post anything. Here’s a sunset picture I took last weekend on my birthday staycation. Hawai’i is so beautiful and I am so blessed to live here. I hope you are all having a lovely week. I am working on new posts which should be up tomorrow or perhaps later today. http://bit.ly/AClyYz

Nook Tablet deals
I don’t know about you, but I love to read and while I still miss the smell of books as I read them, I truly enjoy having any book I want available at a moments notice by merely typing the name in and downloading it to my Nook tablet. I love the smell of books and magazines (let’s be honest, nothing can duplicate or replace that), but I love the convenience of the Nook far more. I...
Wordless Wednesday.
This is how I feel right now. Exhausted from work with a headache from the vog and tired. I would just like to lay my head on a pillow like my niece and rest.
Sunrise from my back yard last night. You can kind of see a few stars beginning to shine their beautiful light as the sun sets in the distance.
Early morning on the way home from taking my son to school. Pretty sunlight...

This is SimplyHeavenlyFood!! You know how I know? She’s my mother. :)
Thanks for posting this. I didn’t know it was online.
lightoftruth:
Is this SimplyHeavenlyFood? I was watching on the this video show around the 33:45 mark and the woman’s name is Teresa and she’s from Hawaii.. She looks like the woman who writes SimplyHeavenlyFood tumblr.
It’s her right? I think it is.
Because carbs make everything better
Well, not _really_, but it seems that way sometimes, doesn’t it?
I was lucky enough to enjoy a nice lunch with my mom at one of our favorite restaurants, Assaggios. I started off with the seafood salad which is my absolute favorite. The light vinaigrette was delicious and sweet, not at all overpowering. The mixture of flavors with the combination of seafood and the crisp lettuce...
Glimpse of Light
On my way home from a quick jaunt to the store, I noticed that the sun was about to set. It had been so hazy and voggy here the last few days but today was clear with just enough haze to make the sky look like it was glowing. This was a quick snap with my camera in the few moments before the sun disappeared behind the mountain as I stood at the boat harbor at Maunalua Bay in Hawai’i...
Apparently I'm Versatile...
I’ve been MIA about a week or so and I’m glad to be back. After watching friends and neighbors mourn the loss of someone they love so much, I had to take some time to really think about life and how I need to change certain habits and be healthier. I was pleasantly surprised to find out two of my favorite blogs, Scribblesaurus and Bipolar2Happiness nominated me for the Versatile...
Random iPhone photo
Hope all of you are having a great weekend. I am working on new posts now. In the mean time, here’s an “HDR” picture that I took with my iPhone and processed with the Camera+ app. Pretty cool.

Take a moment.
Sorry I haven’t written in a few days. My friend’s mom died unexpectedly yesterday at the age of 51. She had nothing wrong with her that she knew, only a cold. She fell down and died. They’re having an autopsy done but it’s so sad and tragic that I’ve been a mess and haven’t felt right about blogging my shallow and random thoughts right now. I have to take...

Follow my friend Cody. Because he's effing...
This is my friend Cody. He’s been one of my friends on Tumblr for the longest time. He’s awesome, he follows back and he has a great blog. Someone hacked the crap out of his blog so he had to start from scratch. I’d truly really appreciate it if you guys gave him a follow. :) http://codydante.tumblr.com
Late Lunch Decadence
I was spending the day with my mom after a long, hard week back at work. She treated me and Alaka’i to a late lunch at Neiman Marcus Mariposa restaurant. Thanks mom! I ordered the Laksa Seafood Curry which was delicious and tasty. The dish was full of salmon, clams, shrimp, onions, bell peppers, eggplant and a few more treats and had a light curry flavored sauce. It was not as thick of a...
Quiet from the crazy
In an otherwise hectic and crazy day for me, I managed to take a minute to take pictures of pretty plumerias blooming on a street nearby. It was a nice break from the wild and insanely busy work day and multitasking that has become a regular occurrence in my life as a single mom.

Drive by fun...
I spent the first day of 2012 with my son doing fun things that he enjoys since he goes back to school very soon. We went to Dave and Busters, watched an amazing movie called _We Bought a Zoo_ (which I really liked) and drove around taking pictures of random things as we drove.
All the pictures were taken by my son with my Panasonic Lumix camera as I drove through Waikiki during sunset...
Happy New Year!
I know it’s 2 days late but I’ve been really busy with my son and squeezing as much fun out of these last few days of his winter break as possible.
It’s illegal to pop fireworks in Hawai’i now unless you have a permit which only allows for those little lame poppers you throw on the ground. Because of the large mix of Asians in Hawaii culture, fireworks are kind of...

dreamingofbliss asked: Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!! :)
Escape
The day back to work and “the real world” after a nice Christmas break is something I generally dread. I wish I could spend all my time with my son and my extended family. Being a single mother is hard work. Well actually, being a mother is hard work, whether you’re single or not. I think that being a single mother is just more lonely. Blah….
We had a...
A decade to remember.
Exactly 10 years ago to the minute, I gave birth to my son Alaka’i. I had been in labor for 3 days (went in at 5 am on December 21st & gave birth at 11:29 pm Hawaii Standard Time on December 23, 2001). He is the greatest blessing God ever gave me and I’m so lucky to be his mommy. It’s a fun and exciting journey watching him transition from a precious baby into a...
All Wrapped Up?
Christmas came by quick this year didn’t it? The last 10 years of Christmases have been super busy and hectic for me because my son’s birthday is on December 23rd. I have to juggle his birthday and Christmas and boy is it exhausting at times!!! He’s turning the big 1-0 this year so I am planning something special.
While I was going through my secret Christmas hiding...
House of Pure Aloha
The word Aloha (_ahh-loh-ha_) has over time, become synonymous with saying “hello” and “goodbye” but it’s much more than that. Aloha also means to show love, compassion, mercy and kindness. It is a Hawaiian value that when practiced properly, exudes pure and welcoming love and warmth to everyone you meet. In my nearly 30 years of life I’ve watched the true...
Stop and take notice..
Do you ever have the chance to stop and take notice of how beautiful the world around us is? Even if you’re in a large city with few trees and lots of smog, there are still so many beautiful things you notice as you walk along. It could be a beautiful sunset, a pretty flower or the smile on the face of a stranger but we are surrounded by beauty every day. The trick is that you have to...

It’s a stormy and gloomy day here in Hawai’i but I kind of love it. It’s one of those days where I truly have writer’s block and it happened to occur on a Wednesday!! I think it’s due more to the fact that I’m about to leave and run errands all over town with my son and I’ve got that on my mind than the fact that I’m kind of stuck on what to...

Enjoying the General Splendor of the Holidays
The holiday season is something that I look forward to with excitement and a tad bit of dread. The sheer mention of picking out a Christmas tree can cause me to cringe without even realizing I’m doing so. The reason you ask? Well it’s because choosing the right tree is so difficult here in Hawai’i and because I’ve had some pretty tricky times setting up Christmas...
